Yahoo has now signed up the two biggest handset manufacturers to load its Yahoo Go for Mobile services on their phones after an announcement with Motorola this week.
 
Motorola said it will prominently feature Yahoo Go for Mobile which includes Yahoo Mail search address book and Yahoo Local on handsets worldwide starting the first half of next year. Motorola did not specify which handsets would get the feature but said it would distribute tens of millions of phones featuring Yahoo Go

Vancouverbased Absolute Software released a Mac version of its Lojack for Laptops theftrecovery software.
 
Lojack which has long been available for Windowsbased portables surreptitiously contacts Absolute's monitoring center when the computer connects to the Internet. If the notebook is reported stolen or lost Lojack sends back the portable's current IP address and other networking information to Absolute. The company then works with local law enforcement to pinpoint the laptop's physical location and recover the system.

IBM is making a full Notes client available for Linux a bit earlier than expected.

IBM said it will support Novell's Suse Linux and Xen virtualization on its IBM's BladeCenter and other x hardware. It will also allow management of Xen virtual machines under its Virtualization Engine. That allows IBM customers to use familiar IBM management software to provision and manage multiple Xen virtual machines.

An update to Adobe&;s Flex rich Internet application development platform last week makes the technology less expensive to use and could make Flex more competitive with open source AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) development systems.

One of the two security updates that Microsoft released Tuesday for its Office suite applies not only to Windowspowered computers but also to Macs.
