In a breakthrough that could someday supercharge the creation of new mobile devices a Motorolaspinoff company has announced a new kind of magnetic memory chip.

Earlier this month previously unknown chip maker Freescale announced the commercial availability of the megabit magnetoresistive RAM chip or MRAM which features the best qualities of current memory chips without their drawbacks.

Microsoft's hardware division is developing a slim wireless keyboard that will make it easier for users to access Windows Live services and features in its forthcoming Windows Vista operating system.
Dubbed the Ultimate Keyboard it will be announced later this year as part of a desktop package said a source familiar with Microsoft's plans. The system will come with a wireless laser mouse the source said. View an online teaser about the keyboard here.

Following an industry trend toward smaller more efficient PCs Apple phased the bulky CRT (cathode ray tube) monitor out of its product line on Wednesday moving entirely to LCDs (liquid crystal displays).

LCDs have long been sleeker lighterweight and more efficient than CRTs but their greater price has always held them back in the retail market. Whether buying a television or a computer monitor shoppers have been able to buy a larger screen for their money with CRTs.

Intel has made another huge investment in the nextgeneration wireless technology WiMax. Intel Capital the chip maker's venture capital investment arm invested $ million in financial funding to the wireless broadband company Clearwire Corp. to accelerate its development and deployment of mobile WiMax networks. Sonic Solutions on Friday said its Roxio software would power the DVD burning capabilities of Fujitsu Ltd.'s upcoming Bluray Disc driveequipped desktop computer.

Fujitsu is scheduled to launch the Deskpower TXS/D in Japan at the end of June. The PC is expected to be the first desktop computer available with an integrated Bluray Disc drive Novato Calif.based Sonic said.

Microsoft Corp. has ramped up shipments of its Xbox 360 console to widen its head start on video game rival Sony Corp.'s PlayStation 3, the software giant's chief financial officer said Thursday.
