Intel Corp. Chairman Craig Barrett told a United Nations IT summit that technology creates equal opportunities for the world's children.
Speaking Wednesday (Nov. 16) at the U.N. Summit on the Information Society in Tunis, Tunisia, Barrett said: "Technology enables every child in every small community to have the same opportunity."
"Technology empowers individuals, but it alone is not the solution," added Barrett. "Government and business must collaborate to create the right environment for every economy to thrive."
Barrett also cited the need to extend wireless infrastructure around the world to increase technology's reach and to promote the exchange of ideas. "Ideas [are] the new source of wealth," Barrett told the summit.
