Internet Security Systems on Monday launched a managed security service that helps customers assess vulnerabilities and prioritize remediation procedures.
ISS’ new Vulnerability Management Service extends the company’s previous threat scanning service by placing “drones” inside customer networks, said John Wheeler, director of deployment and integration at the Atlanta-based vendor. “ISS has been providing remote scanning services, but it has been a view from the outside,” he said. “Now we have both internal and external views.”
The service also helps customers assess the risk of vulnerabilities found and determine the return on investment of remediation, allowing them to prioritize remediation based on actual risk to the company, Wheeler said.
Vulnerability Management Service also provides the tools needed to track and complete remediation, he said.
The new service will help companies that are overwhelmed with the current security landscape, said Steve Johnson, president of the Atlanta-based security specialist Optimus Solutions. “Companies are constantly under attack and have all of these point products in their networks that are security-related. It’s driving them nuts,” he said. “This service offers the risk avoidance they need and the security simplification they want."
