Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will donate 15 million US dollars to the Computer History Museum in California, the San Francisco Business Times reported on Monday.
The Computer History Museum, which keeps computers and other information technology artifacts, is seeking to raise a total of 125 million dollars for its endowment, the paper announced on its website.
The gift from the Gates Foundation is the largest donation in the museum's history. Its largest previous gift was 10 million dollars from Eric Hahn, the founder of Inventures Group and formerchief technical officer at Netscape Communications.
The Computer History Museum, which employs 30 people, started in Boston in 1979, and was moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1996. Enditem
