Quantum Corp. announced today the DLT-V4 drive for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). Retailing for under $1,000, this tape drive product establishes a "new threshold" in backup, recovery, and archiving for SMBs, according to the company.
The DLT-V4 drive delivers 320 GB of compressed capacity and a 72 GB per hour compressed data rate, which represents four times the capacity and three times the speed of existing DAT 72 tape drives. The first tape drive to ship with an SATA interface, the DLT-V4 makes it easier for customers to attach to entry-level servers.
Quantum offers the DLT-V4 tape drive bundled with Veritas Backup Exec QuickStart edition, and also comes with a cleaning cartridge and media cartridge.
