Sonic Solutions on Friday said its Roxio software would power the DVD burning capabilities of Fujitsu Ltd.'s upcoming Bluray Disc driveequipped desktop computer.
Fujitsu is scheduled to launch the Deskpower TXS/D in Japan at the end of June. The PC is expected to be the first desktop computer available with an integrated Bluray Disc drive Novato Calif.based Sonic said.
Roxio digital media software enables the backup of up to GB of data on a double layer BDR (recordable) or BDRE (rewritable) disc. In addition Roxio includes an "Easy Archive" component to enable users to copy multiple nonprotected optical discs to a single BDR or BDRE disc.
Bluray is a highcapacity rewritable optical disc that holds more than five times the data of a regular DVD. Sony Hitachi and Philips announced the Bluray technology in . Its competitor is HD DVD which is endorsed by Hitachi and NEC.
