Intel invests in silver-zinc battery developer

Silver-zinc battery developer Zinc Matrix Power Inc. has received a $7 million investment to establish and staff a pilot production facility in Camarillo, Calif.

The round is being funded by existing investors. Investors include a large private equity group, Intel Capital, and OnPoint Technologies.

Zinc Matrix Power (Camarillo) will use the funds to continue moving its new high-energy, silver-zinc battery towards full-scale production for military and consumer electronics applications.
