Delivering content to cellular phones, Mobile Media Now on Friday will launch the weekly sports video channel 6Degrees Action Sports Lifestyles on the telecommunications carrier 3 UK network.
VidZone Digital Media, a European mobile content provider, will deliver 6Degrees Action Sports Lifestyles and video ringers to 3 network customers in the United Kingdom.
The 6Degrees Action Sports Lifestyles channel will sell for $4.99 monthly as part of a 3 UK subscriber package. It includes MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, FHM and BBC Weekly World News. The 3 UK network has approximately 17 million subscribers, and of those, 3 million 3G will have access to the programming.
Mobile Media Now said the 6Degrees Action Sports Lifestyles said weekly video channel can run on any global carrier. The pop-culture extreme sports network distributes action content on youth culture and lifestyle programming, products and information.
Mobile Media Now owns the content. The company said it produces original music for each hour-long program. Clips include surfing, wakeboarding, snowboarding, skateboarding and motocross.
Juniper Research Ltd. estimates more than 210 million users of mobile sports services worldwide by 2009, including 120 million in Asia.
The weekly segment that Mobile Media Now will deliver to VidZone Digital Media includes pre-recorded events, such as athlete and celebrity expose stories, how-to and hot-tip features, pre-packaged video from library archives, and special opinion-leader segments.
