SAP, the world's leading marketer of business software, has outbid arch rival Oracle for a contract from the French government to harmonise its budget and accounting software.
A source close to the company provided AFP with the same information that was given in the French financial daily Les Echos.
SAP beat Oracle for the contract, which is valued at between 20-40 million euros (22-48 million dollars), the source said Friday.
The contract, which will initially cover the adaption of the French government's software to the new LOLF Constitutional Bylaw, will form part of a wider updating of all of the software used by the Paris for its public finances, with bids invited for each step of the process.
