Hong Kong-based SwitchEasy, Ltd., a young company currently focused on Apple iPod add-ons, announced this week the availability of its second product, the Capsule Accessory System, which is designed to protect the tiny and delicate iPod Nano.
SwitchEasy launched its first Capsule accessory on Tuesday: a fashion-forward, duo-toned polycarbonate carrying case.
Each case includes a replaceable color lens cap and matching lanyard and customized static-cling touch wheel protector, both of which users can opt to mix, match or color-coordinate.
"We wanted to offer a bling bling look with this product, but found many silicone products don't have shine or glimmer," said SwitchEasy founder Steve Bao. "When I first set out on this, the main goal was to find a durable plastic that would shine."
The company decided to incorporate General Electrics' Lexan plastic resin.
"It's one of the strongest materials and also allows for the duo-toned feature we wanted," Bao noted.
Each case has two insert holes, designed for compatibility with telephone hand straps and other third-party lanyards.
In addition, the company created its Capsule for use with any headphone jack under 6.5 mm, according to company officials.
SwitchEasy Capsule cases, which retail for $19.99 USD/Euro each, are now available in five colors, including black amber, shaved ice, red mama, tangy orange and citrus apple.
"These products will be available through many distribution networks as we continue expanding with retailers and wholesalers," Bao said.
"We now have two major distribution channels: German-based Lintec Information Technologies and MacPerfect International in Japan."
The company expects to unveil new color combinations and accessories for its Capsule line in the near future.
In addition, it is currently in the process of designing a different product specifically for Apple's new video iPod.
