Cingular is testing a service that gives its mobile phone users unlimited calling access to AT&T's home phones, the Reuters news service reported Wednesday.
Cingular is co-owned by AT&T, which was known until recently as SBC. The service, called Mobile2Home, costs just under $6 a month to customers in Connecticut who choose to combine their local phone and mobile phone services into a single bill, Reuters said.
For now, the service will be offered only until the end of February, according to Reuters. Cingular did not say whether it plans to expand the service. AT&T claimed, however, that this is the first bundle that combines regular wireline home phone service and cellular service, according to Reuters.
